I truly understand that Caregivers share the journey with those they help, and the impacts on the Caregiver are great. They are challenged intellectually, emotionally and physically as they give their best to help others. I offer you my lessons and insights to help you maintain your sanity on the journey.
📷 Worthy whether you are, have or will encounter dementia. Having been a caretaker for my grandmother years ago, I wished I had this book to help my parents cope, better support medical personnel, and be a better caregiver to my grandmother. I wish I had this for my other friends who went on to care for their loved ones. If you have a parent/grandparent with dementia, this book is as necessity. If you've already gone through it, this book is comforting and reaffirming. For the price point, it's a good investment

📷 This Book is a MUST READ for Caregivers! This book is refreshingly different. It is written by a person that seems to truly care about the caregiver's needs. It puts you in the caregiver's driver seat and gets you quickly orientated about the journey you are (or will be) on. I found myself relating immediately to the real, not simulated, personal struggles presented. I believe the 35 insights are helpful to any caregiver or family member supporting someone with mental illness. 📷 For caregivers of Dementia, this book is going to save your loved ones. The dementia journey always has two passengers, the sufferer and the caregiver (family and paid) , facing ever-changing daily scenarios. The caregiver has several roles on this journey - tour guide, driver, mechanic, and companion to name a few. Handling all these roles simultaneously can be extremely frustrating for new and veteran caregivers." If you yourself or someone you know is struggling to help a loved one (usually a parent) navigate the extremes of dementia, this book will save your sanity. Written from years of experience and taking care of his mother who suffered from Dementia, Reg Lawson delivers a book that walks someone through everything that they normally would never have thought of for prepping a home for taking care of a dementia-stricken person. Imagine walking into your house and finding your parents in a situation that you could have never imagined would happen? That is what dementia does, and now, thank to this book, you will have a far better insight on how to handle the situation. The reason you need this book is because you (caregiver and family) need to learn about which common items in the home will become dementia-induced threats, and how to avoid them. This book also provides tips for handling, in person or from a distance, the frequent good and bad moments the caregiver will surely encounter. You will learn how to use compassion, wisdom, and automation to be a healthier, more confident and savvy dementia caregiver traveler. These real-life, humbling and enriching lessons can help you recognize and embrace the strength and love embedded in caregiving. Learn to set yourself up for success the right way and avoid all the pitfalls that are waiting to happen. You won't regret following the advice in this book. In fact, you'll be passing it onto your friends and family within a few days. A definite recommended must-read and follow through with action!
